Vale is the floral design project of two friends, Brooke Giard and Rachel Johnson.
In their eyes, collaboration leads to the greatest creativity.
Flower Friends Forever
The collaboration began when the two met while flower farming in Vermont, dreaming of designs inspired by the landscape surrounding them. Their inspiration is rooted in the seasonal florals they nurture, while also leaving plenty of room for experimentation.
Both Vale designers found floristry in their early twenties, beginning their careers working in flower shops. From there, the two dove into freelancing for other wedding florists, pursuing their own design opportunities, flower farming, and eventually designing full service weddings together. With their backgrounds in design and agriculture, Brooke and Rachel have a deep understanding of the care that flowers require.
Since 2022, Brooke and Rachel have been designing weddings together under June Farm, and over time, that collaboration has grown into something more than a farm floral offering. Vale is a natural extension of the work they have been creating together for years. Brooke continues to run June Farm with her husband, a flower farm in Vermont that primarily grows for wholesale to local florists and designers. This connection to the farm and the broader local floral community naturally informs the way they approach each wedding.
While locally grown flowers remain at the heart of their work, they believe in letting the design lead. They use as many Vermont-grown and regional flowers as possible, thoughtfully adding blooms from beyond the region when a particular color, shape, texture, or season calls for it.
Vale grew naturally from years of working side by side, sharing ideas, experimenting, and creating together. What started as two friends and flower farmers designing farm - focused weddings has become a shared creative practice of its own. One that allows Brooke and Rachel to bring together their experience in floristry and farming.
